F2 System Fan Has Failed 1

Hi,

I had an HP model a6313w with an M2N68-LA (Narra2) MB. I replaced the motherboard due to a problem, with the same model, but a Narra3 (I have no idea what that means). I pasted links below.

The new MB was from another model HP called a6530f. Everything is fine, but when I start the PC up now it says "System Fan Has Failed, Press F2 to Continue."

I press F2 and the PC starts up fine. Both of these PC's only come with a PSU fan and a CPU fan, no case fan. The power supply is new also because it was rattling so bad that I replaced it last week. The CPU fan works fine also. What could the problem be? I have cleaned everything there is to be cleaned.

It's nothing but an annoyance, but I would like to fix it, because it does indeed annoy the heck out of me.

I've seen this before on other HP machines when none of the fans was having a problem so...................

Is there an option in the BIOS to turn off these alerts??

The obvious way to test things is to purchase/borrow a case fan and attach it to the SYS FAN connector and see if it goes away.

If you google "hp System Fan Has Failed" without the quotes, you will tons of matches to your problem. I think you're going to have to learn to ignore it.

When I bought a new PSU about a month ago, I mentioned it to the guy at the repair shop, and he said it could be a bad sensor.

What does that mean?

I looked up in the parts store, and found the computer that my newer MB came out of, had a system case fan. So that's probably the problem.

I know where to plug it up at, but where would it attach? Does it attach on the case somewhere? Specifically, the HP fan that's made for it?
