I am trying to install the ezdialogs third party software for Paradox. After installation, the ezdialogs library will not open. I can't even get the ezdialog demo to work. it keeps coming up w/ error messages that say "Error, You have tried to use a document that is not open" I have tried numerous things to get even the demo to work.
It was previously installed on another machine, and I noticed a few differences between the new and old installations. the EzDialog.ldl is missing. there is a ezdialog.lsl file, but the program seems to want a ldl file. Please Advise

Mike

Mike,

I'm surprised there's an ezdialog.lsl file; Woll2Woll originally did not provide source for their Paradox products. That may be a recent change given their recent focus on Delphi.

If you can open the .lsl in a Design window, try delivering it and copying the resulting .ldl to the appropriate directory.

Hope this helps...

Hi Xahlco:
Did you resolve the problem? - I am having a very similar set of problems.
I installed Pdox9 and ezDialog 1.5 on NT4 with SP6.0a and it worked OK - except that scrolling with the cursor keys in the incremental table look up did not work, although character and mouse clicks did.

When I tried installing on another machine, also NT4 with SP6. it says
1. Error ezdialog.ldl not opened
2. Tried to reference a doc that it not open
3. Design object ezdialog.ldl could not be opened - the form references a external procedure / dll which could not be found
4. Can't find reference ezGetOpenFileNameW in DLL library ezDlg32.dll
5 Windows could not load library ezdialog32.dll

It is really strange - I am using Pdox 9. Any ideas? I do not remember having to run an install program for ezDialogs, just copy the DLL and the LDL and open it from the form... what am I doing wrong?

All the paths have the right files. I have not tried deleting the DLL from the various duplicate places, and there are two copies of ezdialog.ldl

My ezDlg32.dll is dated 26 Sept 95. Does anyone have a newer file.

Any suggestions welcomed...
Thanks
Ash

A delievered library will only work with the version of Paradox that delievers it. ie. If your *.ldl was for Pdox 7, it will not work with Pdox 9. You must open the *.lsl in Pdox 9 and deliever it to create the *.ldl.
