Afternoon – I've looked every place I've thought of for a solution to this. Maybe there is none. Anyway when I import an Illustrator .ai file or an .eps file, sometimes I want to match the CMYK value of the color I'm selecting. When I select the color is comes up as an RGB image. I know I can then convert it to a CMYK but is that a preference or am I stuck with an extra step. FYI...I made sure my colors in Illustrator are CMYK and not RGB.

Thanks!

You're best bet is to note the cmyk values used in ILL and make a swatch with the same values in ID, or use Pantone colors in ID and ILL (with the appropriate Solid to Process Pantone guide) and make them Process.

The warning that pops up in ID, about low res, when using the eyedropper on an imported vector is true. Even is you convert to cmyk, the cmyk values will be off a bit. If you use comething like C0, M100, Y100, K0 in ILL, the ID eyedropper will yield a RGB value that, when converted to cmyk, will be something like C3, M99, Y99, K0.
