extremely Increasing document size

I'm using WORD 2007.
When I insert 5 image-files as object (insert-object-create from file), each in size of 500kB, my document size is increasing with 37MB !
When my colleague is doing the same action the file only increases with the size of the embedded image files (2.5 MB).
What is going wrong or where can I find the setting to control this.

I think this is a setting in WORD because a colleague who is doing exact the same action with the same files the WORD doc only increases with the size of the embedded image files (2.5 MB).
But, I found a difference in the embedded files...
Right click on the embedded files imported by me in the context menu the text "Unknown object" is shown.
Right click on the embedded files imported by my colleague in the context menu the text "Packager Shell Object Object" is shown.
Maybe this can point someone in the right direction where to find the problem.
