Hi,
i am new to apache so i need help :)

1. I have created the basic setup of apache\mysql\php on internal server (10.10.10.1 configured DNS to respond to It's working perfectly
2. now i need to "show" this site to extranet\internet users.
3. i have created {at our ISP} subdomain forum.domain.com and pointed it to our external IP adress.
4. i have created the web role (isa 2006) to redirect all requests from forum.domain.com to the internal server 10.10.10.1. Role works, but only from inside lan as if i try to access forum.domain.com browser opens the site but the url is internal if i try to access from outside location browser timeouts and firewall role say (log = 200 OK) everything is ok, so firewall isn't blocking

i guess the the problem is that apache responds with "internal" header and everyone gets so external requests timeouts...
the question is:

what and where should i do to apache to make him understand that and forum.domain.com is the same thing?

mod rewrite rules?

In a thread I posted here, Noway2 posted a link he found to an excellent website regarding usage of mod rewrite rules in the .htaccess file. Perhaps that's the route you should take?

Here's the direct link to the external resource:

I've got it saved as a favorite/bookmark, now, myself! [smile]

You shouldn't have to jump through hoops to make this work. If I understand correctly, you have a webserver running on a local ip address. Apache listens for all addresses on port 80 by default. What this means is, all you have to do is direct all http traffic (port 80) to the lan ip of the server. This is called port forwarding and is handled by most routers. Now the server is accessable from the outside world so any computer with access to the internet will be able to access your website using the same address in their browsers.
