I have downloaded a file from my website and I assume it's my sql tables. The name of the file is (myname.gz)

When I extract this file using winzip or Winrar I get a file with no extension and I can not open it. So I assume it's a UNIX file.

I'm using windows XP how can I view the content of this file?

Does anyone one know how to do that?

Thanking you in advance

extract it by "gzip" in unix first

bomayed,
Rename the file to myname.tar.gz. WinZip will extract it and ask if you want to open myname.tar. That should contain all your files.

Hope that helps.

tikual , I don't have unix

usige , I tried what you suggested and I got the same file with no extension :(

As usige mentioned, most of zip program can handle it. So make sure that you ftp this file to your XP in binary mode.

Have you tried to open the myname uncompressed file with wordpad ?
