I have imported data from a HTML file into a table in Access and I am now trying to extract part of a field and put it into a new field. In the HTML file, the data was stored in a table (at least it looks that way!) that had "Source" information on the top line in the "Segements" field, and then a few lines of text below that "source" line. For example:

Source: presession_q2_MVAR.rtf

"Respondent #10 I think a this would be a great idea but would like to see some changes made. "

As you can see, there is a blank line between the two items, and the second part of the data is quote from some data collected in a survey. Is there a way to take the "Source" info out of this field and put it into a new field??

Thanks in advance for your help!

Something like this ?
Left([Source], InStr([Source], " ") - 1)

Hope This Helps, PH.

Sorry- I'm still a bit of a novice. Where would I use that- in an update query? and is that -1 the number of characters it will extract? A little clarification, if you wouldn't mind...thanks!!
