extracting info?

I have a column that has the data combined like "028W02KLN---" What I would like to do is remove the first "0" and move the 28W02 into a column then take the KLN into another column and delete the "---". I have a large database that I am trying to upgrade. Is this possible?

Assuming your data is in A1:-
=MID(A1,2,5)
=LEFT(RIGHT(A1,9),3) or whatever.
