Hello,

to backup system I created a Solaris Flash archive. Command flar info shows among others following information:

oracle
oracle/product
oracle/product/9.2
oracle/product/9.2/bin
oracle/product/9.2/bin/proxyserv
oracle/product/9.2/bin/gennttab
oracle/product/9.2/bin/gennfgt
oracle/product/9.2/bin/echodo
oracle/product/9.2/bin/extproc32
oracle/product/9.2/bin/clustca
oracle/product/9.2/bin/oidadmin
oracle/product/9.2/bin/kgpmon
oracle/product/9.2/bin/coraenv
oracle/product/9.2/bin/oraenv
oracle/product/9.2/bin/dbhome
oracle/product/9.2/bin/kgmgr
oracle/product/9.2/bin/loadpsp
oracle/product/9.2/bin/genagtsh
oracle/product/9.2/bin/genclntsh
oracle/product/9.2/bin/genclntst
oracle/product/9.2/bin/unzip
oracle/product/9.2/bin/lxchknlb
oracle/product/9.2/bin/lxegen
oracle/product/9.2/bin/lxinst

and so on.

I´ve to restore only $ORACLE_HOME. Is it possible to extract only one part of the flash archive. It´s required to restore $ORACLE_HOME. How can I extract only the part “oracle” of the flash archiv ?

We don't use flar at the site where I work (prefering to use ufsdump & ufsrestore), but having just read the man pages, it looks like you cannot selectively restore parts of the flash archive. There is a "split" option (-s) which might help or you could restore the flash archive to a temporary location (filesystem) and copy the $ORACLE_HOME directory to where you really want it.

I hope that helps.

Mike
