Is there any simple way of extracting table field names etc. from an Access database?

The built in documentor will diaplay the information I'd like to be able to pull (i.e. Field name, type and size) but it doesn't allow any means that I can find of copying that information into a spreadsheet or table .

Have a look at the TableDefs, TableDef, Fields and Field DAO objects.

Hope This Helps, PH.

You can use the results of the documenter in a query. There is a description of how to do this at

Thanks to both of you for your insights.

Dhookom, Your method was a perfect match for my needs and this is something I know I will be using again in future projects.

Mucho kudos.
