Extra Space around table on left, right and botton

I have shared borders on all 4 sides on my webpage.
In the center of the webpage I inserted a table.
The top of the table is flush with the top shared border which is what I want, however, there is over a 1/4-inch space to the left, right and bottom of the table.
I have the Background Page Properties set to red, so what I end up with is a thin, red U-shape border around my table.
How, please tell me HOW, do I fix this?
