This site has been giving me a few problems that I can't quite figure out. I'm using IE 6 to test for now.

The navigation bar (tabs) should be flush against the blue background, but there's some black space between the two for some reason. The second thing is that the Prudential logo at the bottom-left of index.php should be centered in that cell, but it is not. I probably messed with the first problem for 2 hours to no avail. The second, maybe 45 minutes, but they make no sense to me.

Any ideas after looking at the code? (It's probably a 'duh' response, I know...) )

For your first issue, the problem is in the text. Since tables were not meant to be used in the way you are using them, the cell makes sure it can accomodate some text in it. If you give the table cell that holds the navigation a style of [tt]font-size: 0;[/tt] you will notice the problem dissapear.

As for the second issue, I could not find a reason why. FF displays it nicely centered, so it must be an IE bug. You could possibly apply [tt]display: block; margin: 0 auto;[/tt] to the image to resolve the issue.

ahh, yes. font-size worked fine. makes complete sense.
Since tables were not meant to be used in the way you are using them...
what are some alternatives that are just as easy and quick to set up? I use tables because they're easy (most of the time :) )

To me, setting up layout via CSS is much easier than tables. But that could be just me...

Forget the above . . . I have been experimenting but to no avail.

The width of the table cell containing the image is set to 194px. The image is 200 pixels wide - when changing the width of the table cell to more than 200 the image floats in the center no problems . . .

Cheers
