I have had great success using an electronic device such as the Algo Duet Plus Alerter
( connected to the headset jack on the M7XXX series sets, and using the audio input to the alerter. They are powered by a transformer, which has a distance limitation, and they come with a modular cord to connect the device to a jack. Not a very costly item either.
