Hi,

We purchased MS SBS 2000 which comes with 5 CALs, and then purchased another 5 packs of 5 CALs.

The original case has a product key and a sticker showing the 5 CAL licences.

How would all the additional 5 pack CAL have been supplied - on a paper licence, on a CD or on a floppy disk ?

Please advise, as I need to find them to set up the software anew on this PC (we're wiping and setting up from scratch).

Regards,

probably a shrink-wrapped bit of ornately printed cardboard with a hologram... roughly 5x9 if my memory is correct...

Thanks .... sounds like there's little point in me looking through a disorganised pile of floppy disks (not mine !) for it.

Would there be one of these packs for each 5 cAL packs ? Would they each have their own Product Key which has to be installed in the software to enable it to take the relevant number of CALs ?

Would Microsoft be able to tell me with 100% certainty what kind of licence they supplied for extra 5 CAL packs ?

I do hope you can help me further.

Jay, if you bought from a reseller (like CDW or something) then your invoice will suffice to prove the CALs. Same for Microsoft -- time to make friends with the A/P folks. :)

Hi,

Microsoft said this too, but since I need to reinstall SBS Server 2000, I've been told I need the disks to install the full quota of CALs, and that each disk has 5 CALs and its own product key.

Can you help me further ?

Regards,
Jay/UK

Ah, I see now. My understanding is that versions of SBS prior to 2003 DID release CALs on floppy disks. You'll need to find those to reinstall, or maybe MS can help with replacements.
