Hi, I'm a newbie to the Mitel world and am setting up my first 3300 MXe ver 7.1. The customer wants to access their voice mail externally. So what i've done is get them to allocate one of their DDI's for this service and using speedcall point this number to the actual number of the voice mail hunt group, however this dosen't work for some reason. If they dial their voicemail huntgroup number internally it asks them to enter their extension number and enter their pin to access their voicemail, but when dialed from the external DDI it asks them to enter the extension number to leave a message! Any ideas why this is happening? Or have i set it up incorrectly and there is another correct way to externally access voicemail messages.

Thanks

The VM receives the internal extension DN on internal calls and will attempt to match that DN to a valid mailbox. With an external call, there is no internal extension DN for the VM to match up with. Any internal or external call that is not tagged with a valid DN matching a mailbox will be handled by the Auto Attendant. Everything is working normally.

When your external callers/users hear the greeting, press *. The system will play a message asking the caller to "please enter your mailbox number" after entering in the mailbox number, a new message will ask for a passcode. if the passcode is valid for the mailbox, then the caller will be able to retreive messages.
