Hi, I'm using a Maxtor One Touch USB external hard drive for backups. I have it configured in Disk Management to be recognised as "K".

I copy files across our network to this drive, so I normally right click in Explorer to share it, and then adjust share permissions to make it writeable by everyone.

Unfortunately, when I unplug it and plug it in again, although it sees it as "K", it's lost all sharing/permission settings so I have to repeat the process in Explorer to make it writeable across the network.

What's the easiest/best way to get it to remember it's share? Am I missing a trick somewhere or do I need to run a script?

Dan

My only guess off the top of my head would be to create an autorun file to take care of that for you - I would think that is possible, but not sure just how complex.

Sorry for the misplaced post, not sure how I managed that one...
