I'm installing my first ip office. I have the system set up in my office for programming and testing the functions and such. I'm trying to do an external transfer and can not get it to work. I have only been able to transfer externally via transferring to an extension that is has call forward turned on. Is it possible to transfer to an external number with the basic edition of the IP office? It is 11.0 Basic Edition. Thanks!

It's not. You can only transfer to an extension that is forwarded as you have discovered. It is a limited system. If you get the essential edition license you can then transfer off site.

External transfers are allowed on standard co trunks if the co provides that feature. You would need to program a "recall" button on the phone. This will send the switch-hook flash to the CO. Test the line from the demark to insure the telco has the feature active. This is supported on basic edition with analog trunks.
