I have imported several files from excel and saved them as access files. I did run a sql statement with them including a union and "order by".

It seems that now when I attempt to access these tables to add records through access or run queries with them, I get an error stating "EXTERNAL TABLE IS NOT IN THE EXPECTED FORMAT". What does this mean and how can I correct this problem.

Thanks S.

Imported or linked ????

Linking files to Excel can be trying. Make sure of the following:

1. All of the data in the same column in the Excel spreadsheet is of the same format.
2. There are no #Error, #Num Etc errors anywhere in the spreadsheet.
3. Sometimes it helps to name a range in the spreadsheet. Then, during the import/Link process choose the named range.
