Hi,

We have livelink v9.7.1 pointing into an External Storage. Our production, testing & DR (disaster recovery) environment have each own External storage.
Yesterday we accidentaly put the Production Livelink pointing into DR External Storage, so any documents that Production Livelink users upload went to DR External Storage.
My questions is : How can we have those data back into the Productions External Storage?

the file size was about 8GB.

Really appreciate your help.

Are you a Programmer ? The task at hand will require ,analysis and some coding even though very benign. If you do file systems copy some of the folders that got allocated in your DR EFS may collide with Prod EFS so unless you can rule that out it becomes a really complicated way.

You will have to get a data extract of the files in prod that are in DR EFS. You could write a XML extract job out of it or websvcs ,lapi or oscript to do it

in the Prod box you will need to re-import it with action="sync".In this case each of the version files will get version number +1 of that.If you check version+1 will all point to the real EFS.Now it is upto you to whether delete the files sitting in the DR EFS.

As I said do not attempt database copies, file system copies without understanding how providerdata is used to hold the livelink database together without corrupting it.At that point OT support will disown you so maybe get thir prof svcs if you have budget to get it done.

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

In thinking about this in another way you may have the code to do this in the module called "Contentmove".That module allows you to move content between two EFS's or two providers. You may be able to program this using that and that is what Ot Prof Svcs will probablu use to get this done.

Thank you for your reply,

i'm not a programmer, just applications support. However we managed to solve this issues. Here's what we have done :
1. We stop both Livelink services to make sure no users adding documents into Livelink External Storage
2. Backup folders in DR External Storage that has Modifications date from 5 to 7 dec 2011.
3. Copied all the new folders that was created between dec 5 (including 5 dec) and dec 7 on DR External Storage & pasted into Productions External Storage.
4. Now for the old folders on DR External Storage but have modifications dates between Dec 5 & Dec 7, we did check each folders to see if it has some new documents created. If it did, we just copy-paste into Prod External Storage
5. check all the folders again, turn on the Livelink Services
6. Setup the right path on the Livelink targetting the Prod External Storage.
7. restart the Livelink Services
8. Test to upload documents into Livelink & by using this simple query :
select * from dversdata where docid = aaaaa(example);
check the Providerid, to see whether our documents save on the right files or not (file stored)
9. Then i did some checking, randomly choose one files (modified 5 to 7 dec) & search via Livelink, if successfull meaning that Livelink still able to recognize the documents & bring it up.
10. We found also that users not just upload documents, but deleted some files too. We can solved this by doing database verifications on the admin configurations page.

:)

Basically DR Livelink with DR External Storage was an exact copy from Productions Livelink with Productions External Storage. It's just that the External Storage not running 'real-time' backup systems, the backup system run after office hours.
