I have a large image map with several hundred <area> tags.
Is it possible to place these tags within an external document and have the webpage refer to it rather than have all the tags in the main page itself?
It would be so much easier to administer the image map if this is possible.

TIA

A third possibility, but not a recommended one, would be to use a server-side image map. When you click on it, the client just sends the x,y where you clicked - and a server-side script works out what to do next. It's not recommended, because it's not good for accessibility or SEO, but maybe worth mentioning anyway. SSI is infinitely preferable.

Thanks, I currently keep all my mouseover text displays in a javascript file which works well. However, how would I reference <area> tags through javascript?
