I setup a vmware server 1.0.4 running on a 2003 server SP2 box.
I vm'd another 2k3 server that writes data to an external scsi optical drive. Once I vm'd it and moved it to the VM server, and finally got the VM to connect to the scsi drive, the through-put of the vm to the optical drive just crawls! It has a very very hard time keeping up with the data it's supposed to be writing to the optical disk.
I made sure the drivers that are on the vm are on the host server. It recognizes it just fine (the host), but i keep it disabled so the vm can take control of it. When the slow down begins (between the vm and optical drive) I watch perfmon and taskmgr and everything looks fine. No lack of resournces, mem or proc, and network seems fine yada yada..
Not getting any errors or anything so I'm kind of lost as to why it would slow down so much..
Anyone seen something similar to this before? Any advice?
Thanks!
