I have a client with basic phone service through their cable provider (cable provider equipment is Arris TM604G /TW-8) we installed an external bell ringer in their shop and it reportedly worked fine for a few months then started working only intermittently.. I suspect the problem is not enough ringing voltage from the Arris equipment if not the bell itself.. has anyone else ran into this problem?

Thanks

Most business have a phone system so will assume it would be rare for others to have this setup or issue.

I agree on voltage if not the wiring being week or a mouse eating cables.

90 volts ringing is normal so test that first 20 times.
If ok then get a different make of ringer like Algo or Viking.

They other thing is the phones are same expecting that voltage so maybe its the ringer.

thanks Curlycord.. that is a big help.. it is a small business all new cable.. so I don't think the mice got to it yet.. I will check the voltage 20 times and 'punt' from there.. I remember hearing once that the newer electronic ringers on simple analog phones are much more forgiving then the older style ringers

I hardly ever use mechanical ringers as they require too much oomph. In today's world, electronic is the only viable solution. Or AC assisted mechanical.
