I have an 800 and Sales floor ringing to an Ext. The 800 number is ringing to line 8 and to Ext. 23. This Ext is also the main Ext for the sales floor. I need to put an external ringer on this extension.

I picked up a GTE Bell/Tone ringer. I have tried all conceivable combinations, none of which has worked. I have tried the passing the signal thru the Ringer to the phone resulting in no power to the phone itself and when the ext. is called no ringing. I have tried going from the Aux. jack to the Ringer. Again no joy.

It will work outside of the system between line 8 and the Endeavor, but this will not solve my need to ring the Sales Floor Ext.

If anyone can suggest a compatible product or configuration that will work I would appreciate hearing it.

Thanks

On the Endeavor, only the bottom two station ports on the processor and extension module support the AUX jack. You can do what you want on extensions 16 & 17, and 24 & 25, but not extension 23.

Do you have the option to switch extensions? You could upgrade to Partner ACS, but that's a bit spendy for this problem.

I do not know how it works on the endeavor, but on the ACS, I have seen a bell work, when not passed through the bell, but wired to both the bell and the partner ext.

the 4,5 wires cross connected to the bell, and to the partner phone, not going through the bell to the partner phone. I believe it was a standard ringer, not tone generator.

You might also try having line 8 ring on another unused ext. and connect the bell to that ext. The cover feature may also work for making the bell ext ring with ext 23. I am not very familiar with the endeavor, so maybe someone else could answer that more definitively.

See John Shelton's response regarding Endevaour equipment. There is NO AC ringing on the 1st 6 station ports of the Processor or the Expansion cards.

Those ports can only be used for Partner Headsets, outbound-only modems/faxes, etc. Anything that need an AC ring must be connected to one of the last 2 ports.

Thanks TTT

I will note that, I have not seen an endeavor yet.

Thank you, jlshelton. It is ringing correctly. But I am having another issue.

My goal was to have the L8 ring directly to E25, which is also the Sales Floor Ext. I don't think creating a group and assigning E25 to it will work because I would not be able cover this with VM or AA. I tried Line Coverage but then the AA picks up on the 2nd ring not allowing enough time for anyone to answer.

FYI, All other lines are setup to be received and transferred by the AA. So I guess what I am asking is this going to work. I thought it would be best solution killing 2 birds with one stone, so to speak. Again any help would be appreciated.

Ok, got this squared away. The thing that was throwing me was the fact that E25 was being used with the VM system so it was ringing on transfers, incoming calls to other line etc.. (Step 1. familiarize yourself with the system)
Moved Coverage to E40. Turned off line ringing to all lines except L8. Set the VM cover rings to 4 and allow for Auto VM Cover. Now when all call comes in to 800# or transfered to the Sales Floor and it is not picked up they are greeted and given the opportunity to leave a message or go into the main menu. Which works out if the caller is a Vendor or someone not calling for the sales staff.

Thanks again, jlshelton for getting me start on the right path.
