We have a client who would like to place a phone (6D) at a bar with the ringer turned off and an external flashing ringer next to the phone to signal incoming calls (similar to this - They have an ACS with 2 lines. We slit the wire running to the bar, 2 pairs cover the phone and a third pair is connected to its own extension at the phone system on one end with the flashing ringer at the phone end. We occasionally receive a flash on the ringer, but usually not. Hooking an analog set up to the ringers extension yields no problems, all incoming calls on both lines ring at the phone with no issues. The ringer was tested by hooking up directly to each of the POTS lines and worked as intended.
The main problem is that they have two lines, otherwise we would just splice the third pair from the cord into their main line (which we're doing anyways for the time being). But that won't alert them to calls on the second line. There seems to be a discrepancy between the line ringing voltage coming from the partner and the telco ringing voltage. I'm assuming that the partner isn't sending a strong enough ring voltage to trigger the ringer. I see two possible solutions:
1. Is there a way to somehow amplify the ring voltage coming off of the partner?
2. Is there a way to bridge lines 1 and 2 for the purpose of the ringer without shorting them together? (Obviously connecting them at any point will cause line issues).
Thanks in advance.
