We have a few users who when sending to external clients have their pdf attachments converted to .dat files.

We have tried sending as plain text but it doesn't seem to help.

We are using Exchange 5.5 Server and Outlook XP SP3 clients and MS Word as email editor.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Chris

Thanks smah..

The problem only seems to convert pdf and office attachments. This KB seems to imply all messages are receiving the .dat attachment.

If it helps the recipient is using lotus notes.

Thanks

In concept, the .dat attachment develops when something doesn't understand the formatting or encoding. This could be a server or the client. So with that in mind, can a .pdf file be opened properly when sent through your exchange server to someone else on the internet? Can the recipient with the problem recieve & open .pdf files from someone else not using outlook & your exchange server? Lastly, what happens if you zip the .pdf file & send it?
