We have an NEC Electra Elite IPK. The External paging option has stopped working. When one of the external codes is dialed you recieve a busy signal now..Anyone have any suggestions as to what to look for?

Sounds like the paging circuit is locked up in an off hook condition. Try some resets. The paging amp or the paging card. If you are using a spare trunk port then reset the trunk card.

Thanks for the quick reply. I dont know anything about this system. Is it safe to just turn the system off and then turn back on?

The database is backed up by a battery on the CPU. In systems that old, the battery may not hold the programming. There is a reset button on the CPU, however, I strongly suggest that you get a back up of the database before resetting. If you are familiar with the program procedures then you can scroll through every MB and make an office data book. If you have the EE program and the MIF card you can get a back up to a PC.
You might consider calling in a NEC trained technician or risk losing you program. Circuit cards can be reset individually. Each one has a reset button on it. If you know which card drives the paging, then reset that card. You can also reset the external paging equipment.
