I have a magnetic door strike that I have been trying to open using the EXT O/P port on the back of the phone system. The company that installed the door strike installed a relay so the biometric reader and the phone system would not be able to interfere with each other. When I dial *41 or *44 for the pulse option, neither work. If I unhook the cable from the phone system and cross the wires manually the magnetic door strike opens. The door company says that it must be something with the phone system. Any ideas.

take a multi meter connect it to the system input on resistance and do your shortcodes, it might not have the power to open the doors over the direct connection if it tries to get to much power over the system contacts.

Just a thought but are you using a mono or stereo jack into the Avaya. Have ad to use a stereo for door releases at times as mono didn't work

It has to be a stereo because there are two contacts and a common. The downside to the contact closure is that when the contacts are open, they are still kind of closed sometimes. You should get a Viking call box C-1000 I think to do the contact closure.
