I built a Maxtor 200GB External, installed on my desktop, ran beautifully the first time. I removed it to set up on the laptop, and it was not recognized at all. No USB connection even found. I removed it from the Laptop, reconnected to the Desktop, and the same problem ensued. I have already moved data onto it the first connection but now I can't even detect it! Any advice?

Do you mean you installed a Maxtor 200GB in an external drive case? If this is so, can you remove the drive tfrom the case and attach it directly to the desktop machine to see if the drive is still ok?

Yes I put it in an external case, then as you suggested removed it, hooked it up to the internal and booted. It came up in the BIOS but stated it could not find the OS and would not finish booting?

Bit confused - you mean you installed o/s on this external drive? How? (when it was attached to desktop as an external drive?). Have you not got an internal drive with an o/s in the desktop? If you have, can you see the 200GB drive from that?

More info please!
