I have an external ISDN modem and the cable to connect to the serial port is... "gone" !

I have been looking around trying to find the correct pinout so I can build a new cable myself BUT all I find is related to null-modem, connecting 2 PC's together, etc...

What I need to do is to know the pinout for :

PC COM Port Cable Modem Port
DB9-Male <--> DB9-Female<->DB9-Male <--> DB9-Female
pin 1 <-> ?
pin 2 <-> ?
pin 3 <-> ?
pin 4 <-> ?
pin 5 <-> ?
pin 6 <-> ?
pin 7 <-> ?
pin 8 <-> ?
pin 9 <-> ?

Any help on this is deeply appreciated !

Your modem is using a DB-9F? I've never seen one like it. The standard modem cable is DB-9F to DB-25M, and there is a standard pin out for that. There really isn't a standard for DB-9 to DB-9 cables, so they could have done anything.

I'm assuming that you have already tried a straight through connection? It would seem the most plausible.

Can you drop the make/model number? Maybe someone can come up with a manual. The leads are normally identified in the manual somewhere.

The pin-out for the PC end of the cable is:

1 - DCD (Data Carrier Detect)
2 - RD (Receive Data)
3 - TD (Transmit Data)
4 - DTR (Data Terminal Ready)
5 - SG (Signal Ground)
6 - DSR (Data Set Ready)
7 - RTS (Request to Send)
8 - CTS (Clear to Send)
9 - RI (Ring Indicate)

They would connect to the pin by the same name on the modem end.
