Hello,

I have an unusual problem to solve. We have a warehouse that has one phone set and no PA speakers. When working in the warehouse we rely on the phone set speaker to hear pages, however that's not always possible due to the noise in the warehouse. Is there a way I can connect an external speaker to the phone set so that pages can be heard 50 feet away from the phone?

Thanks,
Lou

If you are using a M7100 in the warehouse the middle jack on the bottem of the phone is a speaker output. (the bell symbol) Otherwise you would have to open the phone up and splice into the speaker wires. Use a Valcom self-amplified speaker or horn.

That type of phone do you have in the warehouse (M7310?)? How loud is the warehouse-what type of warehouse? Is there a lot of large machines?

Hello,

Yes I do have an M7310 in the warehouse. The warehouse it's self is approximately 60' x 40' and typically the loudest thing in there is a radio. There is one forklift in there but it's only used a few minutes from day to day.

Thanks,
Lou

There is a way to do that with any 7- - - phone yes you use the bottm plug on the phone with ext ringer... I cant remember it right now but i will get it for you,I did one in a wood working shop it worked good...

Well depending on where your located on this planet, there are a number of solutions. Where are you located?

Hello

I think there is a misunderstanding. What I want is an external speaker so that pages can be heard throughout the warehouse. I do have a paging system, however it's quite a distance out to the warehouse so I was hoping to find an external speaker that would hang off the phone set, rather than pull cable all the way out to the warehouse for one speaker.

The headset jack won't work for this. The only way I have seen it accomplished is by opening the phone and splicing onto the speaker leads.

I would hookup a "BOSS" ringer (from your local interconnect) to the aux. port. Simpliest and cheapest way.

In regard to the 7310 set for an external sleaker, I hate to see it where someone has opened up a phone to connect something to the speaker of the telephone set. It seems to come back and bite you in the future. for what you are trying to accomplish think about this. take the input to your paging system (either raw or with a small pre-amp) and feed this down a spare pair on existing house cable to your warehouse (since this is low power you will not be getting cross talk) then at the warehouse put in a small PA Amp and horn like the viking PA2A. Like you said the idea of pulling new speaker cable to a remote location is not my idea of fun. This will work and you won't have to modify the existing equipment or phones.

Good Luck

Hi Jerry,

Thanks, that is a great suggestion and I will likely do just what you are suggesting.

Thanks,
Lou
