Hi I have looked through the FAQ's and didnt find the problem I am having. We have a 3300 MXe software version 4.0 SP2 and are trying to configure External hotdesking. I have followed all the steps in the programming and here is the problem I am having. When I am logged into the Mitel phone and a call comes in the Mitel phone rings but my cell does not. when I log off the mitel phone and a call comes in my cell rings but I cant answer it and it also shows a funky caller ID, anyone have any ideas? Thanks I really appreciate this forum it has saved me a few times.

I think you need to elaborate on what is ringing when you are logged off.

By your post I interpret that you are using standard hotdesking for the desktop

Are you using a personal ring group to associate the 2 and if so what is the pilot?

My cell rings when the Mitel is logged off. I am not using a personal ring group

Let me elaborate more When the Mitel phone is logged off my cell rings I answer and my cell says connected but the phone I am using to make the call just keeps ringing until eventually going to voice mail it doesnt recognize the call has been answered by my cell phone

and there methinks is the jist of your issue.

Details please.

To what purpose are you "logging off" What are you "logging off" from?

Typically a desk phone does not need to be logged in to function.

Also typically, to associate an external hotdesk number to ring at the same time you would utilize a Personal ring group.

How are you connecting the dots.

Please dont repeat previous answers, they are not sufficient.

Ok I will try to give you the details as to what I have set up I have hot desk extension 2246 set up on a 5330 phone. I have extenal Hot Desk User License set to yes. I have 9 for the Hot Desk External Dialing Prefix I have my Cell number as the Hot Desk External Number. I have anoter user configured as 200 which is a hot desk user with External hot desk License set to yes and my cell as the External number. I have a personal ring group configured as 2246 with 2246 and 200 as members. I can get both phones to ring and am able to answer and see correct Caller Id on my cell. the problem I am having is when 2246 is logged out my cell will ring but when I answer, the phone I am calling from continues to ring. Hope I explained this good enough if not I will try again

What happens when your cell rings and you answer it and press a digit on your keypad (i.e send dtmf to the controller) Depending on your COS you may have answer confirmation enabled which means you have to do more than just answer your cell, you have to confirm it by pressing a key.

I believe you need to press # key to answer if 'answer confirmation' is turned on in the COS. If I remember correctly this is enabled by default.

Sarond that was the issue if I press a key it then answers. I have set the Hotdesk External User Answer Configuration to no and that resolved the issue. Now I have one more problem the Caller ID that shows up on my cell phone is strange. I am dialing 496-3000 then entering 2246 from 496-5074 the number that is showing up on my cell is 01149630004330 (4330 is our voice mail hunt group)

I am in Australia so I can't comment very well on how other countries carriers work. I know here if somebody calls my DID the carrier will not pass the original callers ID through to my mobile, the Caller ID of our office is displayed instead. If an internal user calls me then their DID is displayed.

What is displayed on your mobile if you call it directly from an internal user?

If I call my cell from my office phone the correct caller Id is displayed I see 496-5074.

I probably can't be much more help but look at Replace External CLID in the ISDN Protocol form and check the Default Voice CPN in the CPN Substitution form.

thanks for all the help. I appreciate it

Sorry dclynch, I'm in western Canada so I had to sleep.

Looks like you've pretty much got it sorted out.

A Couple of notes on things I don't see covered.

- Ext 2246 does not need any External Hotdesking configured (uses license needlessly)
- Ext 2246 can probably be configured as the desk set DN instead of a hotdesk (unless you move from desk to desk)
- The caller ID will display the office phone number if the call is answered at the office and transfered to your ststion. This is true always.
- The caller ID "may" display the outside caller if the call is directly terminated to the ring group. "May" depending on your Telco permissions on sending non-native numbers
- Caller ID may also be forced to send the office number if the replace caller ID is set up in your ISDN programming
