External HDD Enclosure

Hello,

I've just bought one of these today, and when I put my maxtor 80GB HD into it it doesn't get picked up by Windows XP.

Well it picked it up, but it says Where was a problem with the hardware so it may not function correctly".

it then doesn't show as a drive in Explorer.

Ive tried a couple of times, but no joy.

Ive even tried formatting the drive in my desktop PC, but again it still won't work.

Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to fix this problem ?

The enclosure may either be bad, or incompatible with your system.

Are you using a compatible operating system? XP with SP1 minimum.
Does you particular OS need seperate drivers installing for this device
Has this hard drive been properly partitioned and formatted
Is this drive set to MASTER it must be.
