hello,

I have a AZIO ENC 302u external HD enclosure with a 320GB HD (can't remember mfr). I had this unit on 24/7 for a year or so and had no problems. Within the past few months the HD will occasionally eject and autoplay... this has become more and more frequent. I called AZIO and they sent me a replacement. I swapped everything out, power supply and all, and I'm still having the problem. This leads me to believe that it is a problem with the actual hard drive itself. Am I correct in thinking so. If so, what do I do? Do I have to replace it?

thanks for the advice!

Look on the hard drive and find the name of it. Visit the manufacturers site for diagnostic utilities and run them and see if they show good. You can also run chkdsk on it to see if any bad sectors are on it.

something to check is to see if your usb port is dropping out on you

The problem is most likely as Firewolfrl says the usb port is dropping out. If you have it connected to a multi port usb hub. The hub may be gone bad.
