40 GB USB External Hard Drive

I was reformatting the internal hard drive to reinstall windows. Upon following the prompts I accidentally deleted the partition on the external USB hard drive in stead of the one on the internal drive. I caught my mistake before I formatted it. I finished up installing windows and now when I boot up Windows shows the device and when I attempt to explore it it askes me if I wish to format. I dont want to format, I just want to recreate the file system. I have run several data recovery programs, and I have retreived some of the pictures on the drive. Is there any suggestions?

Just checked--Partition Magic 8.0 has a routine called "Undelete Partition" that might fill the bill. Of course, you'll have to acquire it, but EBay seems to have the PowerQuest version @ $10. You can buy the Norton v.8, but all I've read sez it's just a relabel, with no real added value.
