External calls to a group never go to voicemail

I have not been able to figure out how to get voicemail to pickup when someone calls our two huntgroups from an outside line, but I haven’t had any success.

Let me mention that I am not a phone expert, but I am tasked with managing Avaya in our small office. Also, our Voicemail Pro unit is broken at the moment and we have a service call to get it replaced... but it's been over a week and we need a stopgap solution in the meantime.

I’ve changed several options in IP Office, but I wonder if this is something that requires Voicemail Pro to be working? If someone calls the outside line (595-4443 for example), the phone never goes to voicemail; it just keeps ringing until someone picks up or the caller hangs up. The voicemail picks up just fine using the internal extension (3091), though.

I believe it is huntgroup-related because we have other external numbers (like 595-2300) that do not go to hunt group phones but do go to voicemail when dialed.

Thanks,
J. J.

I should probably start a new thread, but I'd also like to know if there is a way to get to the directory or an extension directly from the outside since our auto-attendant is down. Right now, the only way to get to direct extensions from the outside is for our secretary to forward calls during business hours.

Thanks again.

A week+ to get a new VMPro server in? That's absurd.
Find a beat up win7 pc, install VMPro and set the same IP as the old server.

With out doing much more, you have the very basic voicemail setup.

If you have backups of the old server, or try piggy-back the old HDD to a working computer, you extract the files and put them in place.

Kind regards

Gunnar
