I have read several threads about external call transfer and have tried several ways but cannot get the system setup quite right. CICS and AA are being used. What I need to accomplish is to have an extension with voicemail setup to automaticlly transfer any incoming calls to the person's home office. The dial string to transfer it using the phone companies switches is as follows:
1. Press the flash button or switch hook the telephone
2. Dial #90
3. Dial the phone number
4. Press the pound (#) key and listen for a dial tone
5. Hang up the phone to activate the transfer
If someone could please list what setting need to be setup within the system and how to program the extension to do this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Mark

You have to decide how you want it to work first- there are two options:

Do you want calls transferred from the AA or another user to go to his extension, then forward to his home (not hearing his voice mail message.)

Or do you want the callers to hear his voice mail message, and get offered an option to transfer to his home by pressing a digit.

Just want people to be able to dial the extension from the AA menu and have it do the transfer from there. I don't want it as an option on the AA menu, I want the extension number to be dialed. I'll probably have to setup some more like this if I get it working.

Thanks,
Mark

For that scenario you would have to use routes and dest codes using the call forward feature (not flash xfer). Though there are other considerations such as ringing line appearances on the users phone.

I thought so but I couldn't figure out how to get it to dial the string I need as stated above:
Flash #90 555-555-1212 # pause
How do you program the flash, # keys and a pause?

Thanks,
Mark

As I said, you cannot use that method for your intended purpose: It does not work that way. If you want a transfer to an outside number via dialing the DN, your vendor can set up routes and dest codes.

As for programming a dial string, it depends where you are trying to put it. For instance you cannot put it in a speed dial button if that is what you are trying to do. You can however put such a string into a voicemail external transfer, which would require your vendor to set up a CCR tree, and have one of the branches be the external xfer.

I got the CCR external transfer to work. Is there a way using a route/dest code to not use another line, but to instead flash/link the same line the call came in on and do a transfer thru the CO? Hope that made sense ;)
I setup a dest code 4 and told it to use route 002. In route 002 I programmed in the code needed for the flash, but instead it is using another line.

Thanks,
Mark

You cannot perform a "link" transfer by using external call forward.(using the central office line feature). If you want to do that you must use a path in the ccr tree, forcing the caller to go directly to the outside number.I would be inclined to do this as it is a much more efficient way of transferring a call.External call forward on the other hand always uses two co lines.

Byrontel - Thanks, that is exactly what I needed to know and assumed.
