Is it possible to forward any call (internal or external) to an external number? e.g. Call comes into switchboard. Switchboard transfers call to internal extension 10. The phone at extension 10 then forwards it to an external phone number.

Thanks!

From reception set try pressing transfer then press a C.O. line eg. Line 2 then dial the number of cell you are transfering to. ~Will Nortel soon be NoTel??~

How To Externally Call Forward a Phone:
You must have at least 4.1 software to execute this feature.

Build a Route
Services – Show
Ringing Service – Next to
Routing Service – Show
Routes – Show
Show Route: 001 – Show
Dialout: No Numbr – Leave alone – Next
Use: ( ) – Change to Pool you want it to use. (Pool A)
DN Type: Public

Build a Destination Code:
Routing Service – Show
Routes – Next
Dest Codes – Show
Show destcode: - Add
DstCode: (enter code) – OK
Normal: 000 – Change to route built – Show
AbsorbLength: ALL
Don’t have to worry about Night schedule etc.

Make sure the phone has Allow Redirect set to Yes and that you’ve allowed it access to the line pool you’re using.

Then simply walk up to the phone and press
Call Forward Button or Feature 4
Dial the destination code + phone number.

All calls that ring on the phone will be forwarded! All calls, including IC calls. So if you want one particular line to be forwarded but not others, simply program ONLY that line to appear & ring on the set.

OR

You can go under Terminals&Sets, Capabilities and set the Forward No Answer. Just hit Change and when it says Forward To: enter the dest code and the phone number. Then set the Forward delay to the desired rings.

Thanks for the responses. Is it possible to upgrade to a newer version of the software? Or is it system dependent? Is it a costly upgrade? Can anything like this be done on version 4.0?

Thanks

Yes, you can certainly upgrade your software to at the at least 4.1 that you have to have in order to do the external call forwarding.
What you would purchase is the new software and an upgrade tool so that you do not lose your current programming.

can you do it on 4.0 does anyone know a work around?

ok... how about 3.0 MICS, with 4.0 NAM?

-Gene

the only way is "Line Redirection" . The catch is the ext needs to have a Line ringing on it,ie. direct line.

Hmmm...doesn't the NAM have this ext feature actually?
Allow it in F983 mailbox # oubound pool 1
and the user programs the external number from F981
and says in greeting I am not here but press 7 to reach me or leave message after the tone?
It just sounds familiar to me but not sure what I might be missing here. ~Will Nortel soon be NoTel??~

If you want the call to go into the mailbox and then as curlycord says, have them say, to be transferred to my cell press 7, then you can certainly do that.

To CHANGE your outdial number

From your phone with the handset down in the cradle
Press FEATURE 981
PSWD: Enter your mailbox password
The screen will show:

0 new 0 saved
PLAY RECORD QUIT

On Your dial pad press 8 8
Your screen will show:

Transfer Dest:
(it will show the current number that is set up)
CHNG NEXT

Press CHNG
Screen will show:

Destination:
PHONE EXT

Press Phone to have the call go to an outside phone number. Press Ext if you want the call to do to an inside Extension.

Screen will show:

Ph:
RETRY OK

Using your dial pad dial the phone number you want the call to go to. IE., 555-1212. Dial it exactly as you would from your phone. Do NOT include access codes like 9.
Press OK when finished.

Screen will show:
5551212
ADD OK
Press OK

Screen will show:
Transfer: on
CHNG QUIT

You can hang up now.
