Can i hook up an external bell to an analog phone? When i hook up both together it does not work. But, when i hook them up seperately they work. Any info would be appreciated.

What are the models/types of the phone and ringer you are trying to use? Please post more info.

If either works plugged into the same port, and the distance from the phone system is not excessive, then you must have a wiring problem. If you are using a splitter like comes with an answering machine, try plugging directly into the port on the expansion module. Suspect wiring issue.

There is the possiblity the ringer has a defective capacitor. A defective capacitor could cause this condition along with questionable wiring mentioned by 2BAvoice.

Is it possible to use a second analog port for the bell? You would then program a cover button for the phone extension onto the bell extension??

I like 1043's answer BECAUSE most of the T&R Ports are not really up to snuff as far as RINGING VOLTAGE & AMPS (Ringer Equivalency)

The RE of the older 012 T&R cards was weak at best.

Thus the question, exactly what kind of module are you connecting these to?
