Dear all,

Thanks for your help.

I would like to ask that if I want to monitor an application logfile (not syslog) on the external platform which has no HP-Agent installed, what should I do?

Do I need to write a litte shell script to send those files to the HP-OVO (server)? Or copy files via ftp ?

Furthermore, if the application is SNMP compatible and agenat installed can I config as following:

Managed Server <- HP Agent (Device side) <- Application (SNMP compatible)

please help if you guys can.

Thank you very much.

Regards,

Pass syslog data to a managed node (maybe your management server) that is monitoring its syslog. You will need to modify /etc/syslog.conf to achieve this.

Write a shell/perl script that monitors your logfile, when it comes across an item you're interested in - pass that command using the logger command to the syslog.

Pick out the events from the syslog of the managed node.
