we would like to have in bound call dial th ext directly without first pushing say 8 for "if you know the party's ext" Can the VM Pro server do this and if so how?

You could probably set this up with a menu action that only has a timeout on it. After time out, it would be drected to a dial by name.

What do the rest of you think, would this work?

If the ext number range is different from your other menu options just add the ext breakout to the menu
ie 8?? assuming that 8 is the is digit of your extn range.
and proccess as normal
this means you can have 1 for ...., 2 for ..... or dial ext no.

IPGURU Please explain how you add an ext breakout to the menu?

Hi,

Within the main menu Add a new Touch Tone the green cross.

Make the Sequence the a series of question marks that are identicle to the number of digits within your business extension numbers. For example we use 300 so within the sequence enter ???.

Then create either an assisted or transfer node, within the Specific Tab, go to System Defined Variables and select "$KEY".

This will then allow a caller to enter an extension number directly from the first menu.

Hope this helps,

JPR

Just realized I was talking about Dial by Name and you were talking about Ext dialing......Sory for the misinfo.

I have been asked this same question a million times.
Typical run-in is with IP office Intuity Mode. (for Voicemail) the caller has to press *8 to transfer to the ext they want or to use the names directory.

If anyone has developed a workaround for this please respond
