We've recently had a large reduction in our staff. What is the best way to deal with this on a Merlin Magix? I'm used to phone systems like the definity where the concept of extensions and ports are two different objects. I want to delete the phones for all of these users and forward all of their calls to someone else. At a minimum, I want to ensure that there is no extension for these ex-employees that just rings and rings.

Anyone willing to assist?

Chris Green

Dial #33+Extension number of phone where you want your calls forwarded to and then remove the phone.
fast and easy.
(also remove extn from coverage group to voicemail if you don't want callers to go to that phones voicemail.)
Hope that helps!

If I remove the mailbox completely from the voicemail system is that adequate? Or will it still try to forward it there?

Chris Green

If you remove the voicemail for that extension then you won't even have to call forward the extension.
Callers will hear " your call is been transfered to the operator".
Make sure that you do not remove the extn from the coverage group to voicemail otherwise you will get ring no answer.

CGreen,

Do You use DIDs or Pots lines with autoattendant. If you use DIDs you can renumber the extentions and the DIDs will come in as invalid extentions and goto the operator. But there is a setting for invalid ext (to operator/ or A busy signal). the extentions should also be removed from group coverage.

Excellent Don. I will look for that setting. Our operater is set to our customer service extension and we use a PRI with DID. If an invalid extension can go there that will save tons of time.

Chris,

If you go under Lines/trunks DID It is called InvalDstn Your choices are Send to backup extention or Return Fast Busy. I am not 100% sure if it works with PRI trunks because it is under the DID section and there is noting I was under PRI But it might be worth a try renumbering one to an out of range number to see what it does.

Actually I just called a number at one of my customers. i Dialed (###) ###-2525 which I know is one of there numbers and it DID go to the Operators Extention.
