Hello, I have written on this problem before and did not get a functional anwer that worked. I have a customer that was and is having a ringing problem after the fact that the ACS was replaced. I believe there are just 2 extensions that ring after programmed not to! I go back or the customer reprograms not to ring and hours later or the next day her phone is ringing again. I have checked the VM ports and the programming is correct there, I have reset system save. And of course this has not solved the problem. I have not ever had this problem before and haven't been able to find anyone tech who has experienced this problem. Does anyone have an Avaya number that I can call for free?

Actually the ringing problem excisted before the ACS replacement and now still afterward. I didn't mention that in the earlier post. So that's 2 ACS modules and the same problem with the ringing programming dropping on a few phones. I haven't tried to replace the AAA batteries but I don't really think that would solve the problem. I surely could use the fix it advice.

How many extensions are being used?,does she have more then 2, is it the actual lines that ring after being programed or are the calls being transferred in from the voice mail., if she has display phones what does it say before she answers the call?

I believe there are about 12 extensions, and it is suppose to be setup for the 2 recep phones to ring only. The owners phone is a non 18 Euro. This is during operational hours with 2 recept's and it doesn't go to VM they are very good about answering every call all day. Any call that is coming is is ringing in the office where it isn't suppose to be. It will hold the no ring programming for different lenghts of time but eventually starts to ring in her office and I think one other phone in the office. I have been trying to fix this for about 10 months now and cannot get info from anyone who has had the duplicate problem and I am beginning to look dumb as their tech lol.

With 12 extensions , you have more then just the ACS, so 1st question what is her extension #, 2nd is there really another phone ringing besides hers and the 2 receptionist's, if so what ext #?
I personally would give her a display phone , see what she's getting whenm it rings and go from there.

When you replaced the ACS, did you Restore the programming from the PC card of the original one, or program from scratch?

Are you set up for remote administration, and if so, can you make a current translation file and email it?

Thanks for helping TouchtoneTommy, I believe I did restore from the PC Card but also had to reprogram all buttons and VM ports. I have been doing these for 10 years but with the ACS when arrived what the heck does the Backup/Restore card actually store for anybody? Also did the PC card hold the VM programming because when I swapped the processor I didn't have to reprogram the VM at all besides the ACS VM ports.

Lastly, if I did restore from the PC card but yet program the ext. for no ring afterwards why would that affect it ringing when I personally programmed not to after the restore? Thanks.

Also Tommy, I haven't set it up for remote I guess simply because they are only a mile away but if you think that would help you I probly should do that? Also is the advice correct on getting her a display phone as well? I am pretty sure she wouldn't see any tranfer call reading because when I was standing there the recept phone rang and so did hers several times and the recept grabbed it as normal and not a VM transfer. This is just weird! Lol...

If the original ACS had some type of software corruption, it would have copied across to the new one. (I've seen a station somehow get TWO line 3 buttons - if you pressed the wrong one, the entire system restsrted, and it copied over to a new processor.)

I always set them up for remote access, and automatic backup. Put ext. 76 in Hunt Group 6, and a password in #730 to be able to get in. If you can get a translation file and email it to me, I'd be happy to have a look at it.

I have actually had this problem, phone was set to no ring on all lines yet it did. I happened to swap it with another and the problem went away. The phone that had the problem is OK at the new location. Why? Who knows.

As Tommy says, default and reprogram from scratch. Then I would look at the phones and mods. You are on your 2nd ACS, gotta be something else.

If there was some type of corruption in the translations, restoring it into another ACS would bring the corrpution with it. I've personally seen an extension with TWO line 3 buttons. Pressing the wrong one would restart the entire switch. Restoring another ACS from the backup card kept the same error, so we defaulted and reprogrammed from scratch.

I always set them up for remote programming, even if they are next door. Put Ext. 76 in Hunt Group 6, and set a password in #730.
