Hi,
We have setup a module in VM Pro with with a message which all callers must hear. This is a breakdown of charges to the number they are ringing.
However, we want any calls to the same internal extension(ie forwards/transfers etc) to have to listen to same message before they are put through. I can't seem to do this with a short code as dialling the extension simply goes through to the extension.
I have a short code which goes straight through to the node but would find it simpler if anyone having to transfer internally could simply use the extension.
Any ideas if this is possible?

TIA

Make the extension that people call internally a dummy like user that forwards all its calls to a shortcode, the one you created.

Make the user that takes the calls something else.

Sorry jesterock,
how do I set a forward on an extension to a shortcode? I've set up a dummy but the forward won't stick.

The short code for instance is

*61
tel: helpdesk
feature: voicemail node

In manager, user, forwarding, tick forward unconditional, right click in the forward number box and click new number
In the number box type in *61
In the name box type help_vm for example

Hope this helps

cheers

Thanks Jesterock.
problem that comes up here is that I get an error message saying 'No match found for the alias you specified'
when I put the short code in as the forward number.

also, when i try and add it as:

*61
tel: helpdesk
feature: voicemail node
in the short code tab for the user it appears as 'voicemail collect' and not voicemailnode????
Strange. have a star for the tips though!

I believe I saw a post here on this forum not too long ago about no longer being able to forward to shortcodes that begin with a * in R3 firmware. Try making your shortcode something else (IPGuru would suggest 666 I'm sure).

Cheers Paul. How do I check the firmware version?
Unfortunately, 666 is the director's extension...heh heh...

Worked an absolute treat. Now everything--whether internal or external incoming has to pass thru the message 'blah blah this call is costing you an arm and a leg please sell your granny etc' then comes through.
also by setting up a virtual extension for a hunt group the calls end there and the voicemail goes to it even if the call is not answered or the extension is busy. Before it used to route back to the 'dummy' extension's VM we setup.
Cool.
Nice one guys. Worth a few more stars.

4.1 is not your firmware version. When you first hit open in manager, in the dialogue box where you type the IPO password it will tell you what firmware the system is.

To forward calls to a *61 short code you need to do it by right clicking in the forward number box and adding a new name and number as an alias.

If you just enter *61 it will not work.

I have tried this on R3 and works fine
