I am relatively new working with AVAYA partner...have a situation with a system with Processr 4.0 upgraded to 6.0, VM 5, two 308's. The cards are out of order. I have read, the VM should be on the right of the Porcessor...it is immediately left and the second 308 is on the right of the processor...it skips extensions 27-30 for some reason. When I change(swap) the position the VM with the 308 on the right side I get the extensions but then all the incoming calls want to go to ext. 28. i revers locations and it's back to normal

From left to right, the modules should be arranged in the 5 slot carrier as follows:

|308|308|ACS R6|VS R5.0|Empty|

If another module needs to be added, the VS 5.0 would be moved over to the currently empty slot.

Yes, I know they are put in wrong by the original installer, but when I change them I get problems as I indicated in my post...is there anything I can do about it?

After the modules are seated correctly, you would then add the correct extensions to Hunt Group #7.
.
If the voicemail system has a 2 port card, you would assign extensions 38 & 39 to the Hunt group. If you have a 4 port card, assign ports 36-39 to the Hunt group.
.
Here is the link to the PDF file for the Partner Mail VS R5.0 Installation Guide. The diagram that will apply to your situation is on page 200 of 274.
.
.
Hope this helps! [smile]

Also, remove any other ports found in Hunt Group #7. The 2 or 4 ports used by the voicemail system should be the only ones assigned to it.

Do I do that through the voice mail programming or the system programming?

And can you give me a little direction in the respective method i.e. VM, or system

You can do all of the provisioning from a display telephone plugged into extension 10 or 11.
.
I'll try to locate the documents in the Partner ACS Programming guide and post them here.
