I set up a direct dial extension using what I thought was a spare number and all seemed to be ok.........

But........ if you dial it internally it works fine, but if you try to dial it externally - you are put through to the meridian mail system to retrieve messages.

So it would appear that this DN has been used previously to allow staff to log in to voice mail system by dialing in externally. But it is now never used for this.

Unfortunately the person who I allocated the DN to - has had a whole bunch of stationary printed :( so I cant simply change the number.

Any idea how I stop this DN taking you in to the voicmail system?? I cant think where it would be set up.

Thanks

There is probably and IDC table converting the number. LD 49

You should really remove the IDC table off the route prior to changing it. Or build a new IDC table and then apply it to the route. Changing an active IDC table on a route can cause corruption.
