Hi,

I'm a newbie on SUN and really have no idea how to do much on a sun server.

I need to add more disk space to /opt (see below) I have no idea how to do this on SUN. Also I want to remove /opt/msi/v50a and /opt/sector7/v50a.

could someone give me a detailed step by step way of doing this. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Well I wrote it out, but it didn't post because I got yet ANOTHER site error.

Again.

# metattach d3 /dev/c1t1d0s2 #example
# growfs -M /opt /dev/md/rdsk/d3

# metattach d3 1g # soft partition example to add 1GB
# growfs -M /opt /dev/md/rdsk/d3

Need 'metastat -p' output to delete d0 and d2.

Here is the metastat -p output. Also, will I need to be in single user mode when doing this? Thanks for the help.

Is it at all possible to change the name of these? I want to change these from /opt/sector7/v50a to /opt/sector7/v53a

or do I need to just remove and readd?

Thanks.

dev/md/dsk/d2 492807 70595 372932 16% /opt/sector7/v50a
/dev/md/dsk/d0 4644414 18502 4579468 1% /opt/msi/v50a

To delete a soft partition run 'metaclear d2' and 'metaclear d0'. If you want to clear all soft partitions on a metadevice you could run 'metaclear -p d100' where d100 has multiple soft partitions.

In your case just run 'metaclear d2' and 'metaclear d0'.

To change the mount point:
# mkdir /opt/sector7/v53a
# mkdir /opt/msi/v53a
# mount /dev/md/dsk/d2 /opt/sector7/v53a
# mount /dev/md/dsk/d0 /opt/msi/v53a

The reason is because the filesystem was created on the raw disk and not your mount point.

zum;

Follow KHZ suggestions but also don't forget to edit vfstab and change
/opt/sector7/v50a
/opt/msi/v50a

to

/opt/sector7/v53a
/opt/msi/v53a

Thanks
