Hi,
Ok first off, hands up I admit I made the mistake, now I need to fix it.
I was on site to add two 146Gb disks to a 72gb Raid 1 on a ML350 G4 server.
The config is as follows
c: 12 gb
d: 60 gb.
What I wanted to was to mirror the two new 146gb disks and extend the d: drive.
But what I did was to extend the entire raid over 4 disks.
What I did was in the HP Raid config utility, highlight the new disks, and chose to extend the array. I believe this has given me a Raid4 stripe set.
What I now to do, is to remove the two 146gb disks from the array.
So if i just go into the utility and choose "Remove Disks", does anyone know what impact this will have on the server.
The utility reports both disks, as unused, but when I go to create a new array I can only make a new disk of around 60gb, which would make sense as the first mirror has been puched out to the 2 new disks.
I hope im not looking at a server rebuild here, but i think I am. HP support have not been very helpful on this one, so im comming here for some advice.
TIA,
Paul
If aint broken, dont try n fix it!!!!!
