Hi All,

I hope im in the right forum to ask this question.

I have a wireless network to setup in a really old well built house. The downstairs has got all solid walls and I am finding it difficult to pickup the router with any decent signal.

Can someone please advise on the best way to boost the signal so that there are no wires involved in doing so.

Many Thanks Paul...

Here's a few things to try...

Your could try adding another AP (Access Point) configured as a repeater. Position it halfway between the original and where you need the signal to reach.

If possible, detatch the existing antennas and replace with bigger ones offering more gain. Or maybe a directional one to concentrate the signal in the desired direction.

Make sure the RF settings for your WiFi AP are adjusted for maximum power out. (Not all APs will have this facility).

I had this problem in an old house recently, and there was no way I could use wireless to get two PCs internet enabled. Ended up using three of the Ethernet-over-mains adapters to extend their predominantly wireless network. Worked a treat...
