Ok, i think i'm doing something way wrong..but it should be a simple setup..We have as follows:

Zyair G-4100 AP, connected to DSL.
D-Link DWL-2100 AP (which we want to use to extend the signal from the Zyair).

The 2100 and the Zyair need to be physically cabled together with CAT5 (the distance between the 2 AP's is too large to cover it wirelessly). Basically, i want to have the Zyair connected to the DSL line in building 1, and the 2100 in building 2 connected to the zyair's hub port via CAT5. The 2100 will then broadcast the same signal as the Zyair (effectivley, being a repeater but using CAT5 instead of wirelss). Question is, is this possible...every config i have tried so far only allows for the signal to be repeated wirelessly, not over the cat5 ethernet port (which is how i want it!). I tried setting up a passthrough on the Zyair and setting the 2100 to be a repeater, but no avail...someone, pelase, help me!!

Can you talk between your Switches? YOu may need to have the connection be crossovered first straight through. Some switches have a special port for crossover, some will auto-negotiate the crossover, some will not do crossover and you must do it with the cable.

If you can talk between the switches, it should work.

We're not using switches. Going AP to AP (the Zyair has a 4 port hub built in and the 2100 has a single LAN port.

Same thing is true. You will need some capability to do cross-over. Either through your hub or the cable.

Both should be set up as APs in their own right, and NOT repeaters. The DLink is not repeating the Zyair as it will be on the same network since you're cabling them together.

Cable a computer directly into one of the Zyair's ports - can you talk to the Zyair, and more importantly, connect to the internet? If you can't, then the Zyair isn't configured correctly. Get this working first.

Now, additionally, plug the DLink 2100 into another of the Zyair's ports. Will the computer talk to that AP as well? Once you've got them all talking on Cat5, then get wireless working...

Thanks for the info. We actually figured it out yesterday. Turns out it was a problem with the Zair config, it seems to be very picky about letting other LAN devices "pass through" it. As soon as i added the MAC of the 2100, it worked just ifne )
