Can somebody please help?

I have a matrix in excel and it has a total asset figure for each company one month in each year. I want to carry over this figure into the remaining months until a new figure is released.
For example-
The rows in my spreadheet represent companies
The columns in my spreadsheet represent dates (monthly)
Every year Australian companies release information. This means that in March 1993 for example I have a total assets figure for a company. However, for the remaining months of 1993 I have no data as information is released annually. Is there anyway of carrying over this figure until the next time information is released(generally March of the next year)?

Thanks, and much appreciated.

sssu,

1) You make the mistake that countless spreadsheet users make -- store data in a REPORT format rather than a DATA format. The DATE associated with the COMPANY and an AMOUNT are ALL data elements. Your data is arranged so that DATE has been complexed by spreading and summarizing by year & month.

If your data were NORMALIZED, it would be stored
[tt]
COMPANY
DATE
AMOUNT
[/tt]

2) What is the purpose of "carrying over this figure until the next time information is released"?

When data is normalized, it greatly expands the number of reporting options and simplifies the reporting process.

:)
